 We provide medical, technical, and consultative services to physicians, other health care professionals and hospital staff as they apply to transfusion medicine. We provide quality tested and prepared blood and blood components in quantities consistent with blood transfusion needs and surgical requirements.
The following is a brief overview of the services by LifeShare Blood Center’s laboratory:
Provides cross-match services to 45 dialysis centers, extended care facilities, and surgical centers. The Compatibility Testing Laboratory provides services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Provides consultation services to area hospitals for resolution of complex antibody problems as well as provides phenotyped red cells for patients with antibodies. The Reference Laboratory provides services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Offered to donors as a service. Approximately 12% of LifeShare donors opt for this health screening test.
Special traits screening program for African American donors. A significant number of rare traits have been identified and the units have been frozen for use by patients requiring these special traits.
Test platelets for bacterial contamination and platelet count to make certain they produce the desired effects in patients.
