Processing Fees for Blood
In order to ensure the safety of patients, LifeShare has to pass on a processing fee to the hospitals it supplies which pays for all of the testing that every single unit of blood goes through. This fee also includes the costs it takes to store and deliver the blood.
Blood Donation Process
Every two weeks for the past 12 years, Cyndi Khoury spends an 1 1/2 hours donating blood platelets through a machine at LifeShare Blood Centers. Faithful donors like Cyndi know a critical shortage of blood means critical patients needing blood could die if the supply fails to meet demand. Blood banks rely on your donations to keep up with demand, but it is a complex business.
