Community reaches out in honor of fallen officers

July 17, 2016 – In response to calls from the community from those wanting to give blood in honor of fallen officers in Baton Rouge today, LifeShare Blood Centers will be open from 1pm to 5pm at their Baton Rouge center, 3849 North Boulevard to accept donations. LifeShare is also conducting a blood drive at Walmart, 28270 Walker South Rd, Walker, La. from 1pm to 5pm today.

“At the heart of our mission, we are here to provide a service to those in need. We are deeply saddened by this great loss and open our doors to those taking positive steps to make our community stronger. While it is the blood given in advance of a tragedy that is used for the victims, these events underscore the importance of a stable blood supply. We welcome donors giving in memory of the fallen officers, and as always those who are giving for patients in our community,” states Tommie Langlois, spokesperson for LifeShare Blood Centers.

LifeShare encourages those eligible to donate blood to give regularly with scheduled blood donations. For more information about blood donation visit www.lifeshare.org or call 225-383-7728.

LifeShare Blood Centers supplies donated blood products to more than 100 medical facilities including Baton Rouge General Hospital and Our Lady of the Lake, Baton Rouge, La.
