Chesapeake Energy Corporation (NYSE:CHK) today brought an early Easter basket to LifeShare Blood Centers with the donation of five new Dell laptop computers.
At a reception held at LifeShare headquarters in Shreveport, Chesapeake presented the laptops that will be used in the blood bank’s mobile donor coaches to register and pre-screen potential blood donors. LifeShare’s territory encompasses 79 counties and parishes, including the Haynesville Shale parishes of Caddo, Bossier, DeSoto, Red River, Sabine, Natchitoches and Bienville and the East Texas counties of Shelby, Panola and Harrison.
“At Chesapeake, we are committed to the communities in which we invest, work and live and aim to share our blessings throughout the multiple Haynesville parishes and counties of Northwest Louisiana and East Texas,” said Paul Pratt, Chesapeake’s Director − Corporate Development. “We are pleased to make this donation to LifeShare Blood Centers, an organization that touches millions through a truly irreplaceable natural resource. The donation of these laptops will help LifeShare continue its life-saving work.”
Established in 1942, LifeShare’s mission is to provide quality blood, blood components and related services to the more than 3.7 million individuals in its service area. Laptop computers aid these efforts by expanding the organization’s capacity to conduct pre-screening activities and increasing the number of donors that can be seen at each mobile unit.
“We are so thankful to Chesapeake for this donation and partnership with LifeShare Blood Centers,” said Jane Carroll, LifeShare’s Shreveport Center Manager. “Three quarters of LifeShare’s blood collections come from mobile drives. Laptops are a critical piece of equipment on these drives allowing us to provide an adequate and safe blood supply to our communities.”
LifeShare Blood Centers is a nonprofit community service provider governed by a volunteer board of trustees. It is a member of the America’s Blood Centers, American Rare Donor Programs and the National Marrow Registry, is licensed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and accredited by AABB.
