FOOD BANK DONATION MADE IN HONOR OF BLOOD DONORS

Shreveport, La., January 5, 2016— LifeShare Blood Centers is donating more than 2,700 canned goods to food banks in their service area in honor of blood donations made during the holiday season.

More than 800 canned goods were given to the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana today along with a $500 contribution made in honor of one Shreveport donor as a result of a drawing held on Christmas Eve.

At the encouragement of her 17 year old daughter, Shreveport resident Wanda Brown joined her in giving blood for the first time on December 22, 2015 with the intent of helping patients in need. Her donation is not only helping local patients, but she was randomly selected as the LifeShare winner to receive a $500 gift card and a $500 contribution to the food bank on her behalf.

For every blood donation that was made at a LifeShare center from Nov. 27 through Dec. 24, LifeShare is donating a canned good to the local food bank. In addition to the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana, other recipients include Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana, Food Bank of Central Louisiana, Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, Water’s Edge in Lake Charles, Southeast Texas Food Bank, and Harvest Regional Food Bank serving the Texarkana area.
