December 13, 2016, Shreveport, La., — Patients often receive the gift of life from LifeShare blood donors, but today they receive something else. Santa helped LifeShare deliver stuffed animals along with cards from blood donors to Rapides Regional Medical Center for children in the hospital this season.
“Blood donors give so much but rarely can they send a message to the patient. The cards and stuffed animals provide an opportunity for donors to sign a card and give in honor of a child in the hospital this season while hoping to provide a special comfort to the child,” says Tina Hooper, spokesperson for LifeShare Blood Centers.
LifeShare is asking for more blood donations to ensure the community blood supply remains stable throughout the Christmas season as patients are continuing to use blood every day. Anyone donating at a LifeShare center or blood drive through the end of the year will also be entered to win two tickets to the Super Bowl and a three-night stay in Houston. LifeShare Blood Centers has donation sites at 2501 North Mall Drive in Alexandria. Open hours and mobile blood drives may be found at lifeshare.org.
