LIFESHARE IN LAKE CHARLES RE-OPENS AND EXTENDS HOURS TO SUPPORT LOCAL PATIENTS

August 30, 2017, Lake Charles, La. – LifeShare Blood Center, 214 Dr. Michael DeBakey Dr., will reopen Thursday, August 31. The Lake Charles donor center is extending hours to help increase the blood supply after suspending operations earlier this week.

The donation center will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 31 and Friday, September 1 before resuming normal hours. Mobile blood drive operations remain suspended and are being evaluated on an individual basis.

“Residents in other parts of the state and Texarkana have come out to support us while southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas could not donate blood. As the storm moves north, it is imperative that anyone who can come to the center donate in order to provide for local patients,” says LaTasha Bellow, Donor Resources Coordinator for LifeShare’s Lake Charles area.

Cancelled blood drives and closed centers have resulted in the cancellation of more than 1,400 expected LifeShare blood donations in the Beaumont, Texas, and Alexandria and Lake Charles, La. during the last week. LifeShare centers in other parts of the state and Texarkana, Texas already extended their hours this week to help maintain the blood supply for the entire region.
