Charles Lee Cushing

Charles, a 17-year-old student of Pickering High School, was involved in a serious boating accident the weekend after Memorial Day. He underwent extensive surgeries, which required many transfusions of red blood cells, platelets and plasma in order to survive.

Over 70 people attended the incredible event in support of Charles and had many great stories to share. One special attribute of Charles, according to those close to him, is his drive to succeed in sports such as football, baseball, track & field and power lifting.

The drive to succeed and the willingness to never give up are also playing a major part with his recovery. Charles is still undergoing extensive surgery on his right arm in order for proper recovery. He is also awaiting his prosthetic leg, which he will receive in mid-October.

His plans for the future include regaining his strength and capabilities as much as possible with power lifting. He also plans to stay actively involved with sports.

A huge thanks goes to everyone who came out in support of Charles!
