Dub Gentry - Recipient

Thankful Family Shares Story
A press conference was held by the bedside of Mr. Dub Gentry on February 24, 2006 at Life Care Hospital.  The media in attendance were Chanel 12, Channel 6, and Bossier Press-Tribune.

Mr. Gentry, 74 years old, was involved in a serious automobile accident on January 28, 2006.  His injuries were extensive:  Thoracic vertebra #12, both hips, 5 ribs, sternum, both femurs, tibia and fibula in right leg, and left heel – all broken, crushed right ankle, torn subclavian artery, and an aortic aneurism.

He has endured 3 major and several minor surgeries.  At the time of the accident, he used 21 pints of blood.  With more surgeries scheduled, this number will increase.  Even with all of his injuries, Mr. Gentry is always thinking of someone else - he has a great spirit!

Mr. Gentry’s daughter, Paula, and his wife are caring for him.  Paula, who is a nurse, stressed the need for donations by telling the story of her father’s accident.  The family is grateful to everyone who was instrumental in saving this amazing man’s life.
