The Shreveport Police Department, Shreveport Fire Department, Office of the Shreveport City Marshal, and Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Dept. Host Cuffs & Hoses Blood Drives

June 12, 2013- Today the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Dept., Shreveport Fire Dept., Office of the Shreveport City Marshal, and the Shreveport Police Dept., came together to kick off the Cuffs & Hoses Blood Drives to be held through Saturday, June 15 at these local organizations’ facilities. The blood drives are being held in honor of Lauren Fogger Tigges, a recovering car accident victim. All drives are open to the public, and participating blood donors will receive a limited edition Cuffs & Hoses t-shirt, while supplies last.

“After serving this community in law enforcement for 25 years I already knew it is vitally important to have a supply of blood on the shelves when needed. When my daughter Lauren was critically injured in an auto accident on April 22 her need for blood became increasingly alarming and important. No matter how much you think you understand the need for blood, when tragedy strikes your family and your loved one is the person in need, your awareness becomes much clearer and all too personal. Lauren and our family appreciate the sacrifices each member of our public service community makes every day. For them to give of their blood is not a sacrifice, but a gift, literally the gift of life,” says Danny Fogger, father of recovering car accident victim, Lauren Fogger Tigges.

“The organizations hosting these drives include our area’s first responders, those that serve, protect and keep order in our community. Already heroes to many citizens, these men and women are stepping up even further by donating blood and asking the public to become heroes too. Having blood available for victims of emergencies and trauma-related accidents is often a matter of life and death,” says Tina Hooper, spokesperson for LifeShare Blood Centers.
