LifeShare’s King Cake Promotion Returns 👑

Mardi Gras season is officially here, and at LifeShare Blood Center, we’re celebrating in the most meaningful way possible—by giving life to the fullest. Our annual King Cake Promotion is back, inviting donors to join the Krewe of Life and make a lifesaving impact while enjoying a beloved local tradition.

On January 22 and 23, donors who visit participating LifeShare donor centers can receive a free king cake and a limited-edition Mardi Gras donor shirt, while supplies last. This fan-favorite event blends community spirit, celebration, and the critical need for blood donations—all in true Mardi Gras style. 💜💛💚

🎉 A Tradition That Saves Lives

The King Cake Promotion is one of LifeShare’s most anticipated donor events of the year. While king cake is a sweet incentive, the real reward is knowing that each donation helps ensure local hospitals have the blood they need to care for patients in emergencies, undergoing surgeries, and receiving ongoing treatments.

LifeShare is honored to once again partner with local bakeries and other community-minded businesses and organizations who share our commitment to strengthening the local blood supply and supporting the communities we serve.

⏰ Extended Hours to Make Giving Easy

To ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate, participating LifeShare donor centers will offer extended hours during the promotion.

  • El Dorado – 8:00am–5:00pm
  • Lake Charles – 8:00am–6:00pm
  • Monroe – 8:00am–6:00pm
  • Shreveport – 8:00am–6:00pm
  • Texarkana – 8:00am–4:00pm

King cakes will be available in-center only at all LifeShare donor centers, excluding Baton Rouge.

🩸 A Sweet Thank You for Type O Donors

While king cakes are available in-center only, the need for Type O blood goes far beyond our walls. Local patients are currently in hospitals awaiting Type O blood, and to help meet this urgent need, LifeShare is offering a special, exclusive thank-you for Type O donors.

On January 22 and 23, any Type O donor who gives at any LifeShare mobile blood drive will receive a $25 gift card 💳 as our way of saying thank you for stepping up when it matters most. Type O donors are often called upon in emergencies because their blood can help save lives quickly—and right now, that need is critical.

If you’re a Type O donor, this is your moment to make a lifesaving difference beyond the celebration. 💜💛💚 Your donation can help ensure patients receive the care they need.

🏆 A Friendly Mardi Gras Challenge from the Krewe of Demeter

This year’s King Cake Promotion is made even more festive thanks to a special partnership with the Krewe of Demeter, who have issued a friendly challenge in Shreveport and Bossier City. The Krewe is calling on fellow Mardi Gras krewes to step up, donate blood, and prove that the heart of Mardi Gras is service to others.

“The Krewe of Demeter proudly challenges all krewes and the public to join us in making a life-saving impact,” said John McCorkle, 2026 King of the Krewe of Demeter. “This is more than a donation—it’s a call to service. The Krewe with the most participating donors will be awarded a Spirit of Giving Award, recognizing their leadership, service, and Mardi Gras spirit. This is our opportunity to show that Mardi Gras is about more than celebration—it’s about heart, unity, and service.”

Donors who successfully complete a blood, platelet, or plasma donation with LifeShare between January 22-23, 2026 will qualify for this promotion.  King cakes are available in-center only, while supplies last.  Donations made in-center in Baton Rouge are excluded from this promotion. Gift cards are available for Type O donors at mobile drives only, while supplies last.  This offer is non-transferable, not redeemable for cash, and cannot be combined with other promotions.  Terms are subject to change at any time during the promotional period.
