My son’s name is Houston Holley and he is 17 years old. Houston has Sickle Cell and we discovered he had it since he was one month old. Since then Houston has been in and out of the hospital more times than we can count. Through this process, Houston dealt with so much such as missing a lot of school, losing hope, and wanting to give up on life because he has been through so much pain. 

Houston couldn’t be like other children due to the fact Sickle Cell put a damper on his life by not being able to play outside with the other children and not being able to stay with family and friends because I was so scared he would get sick. When it came down to graduation he almost missed it because he was in the hospital the week of. He got out one day before graduation. Although he has had a hard life he is still blessed because he is still here standing strong fighting the good fight. I am #TEAM HOUSTON & #TEAM  SICKLE CELL
