LifeShare Launches Bold New Biologics Division, Announces Key Leadership Appointments

LifeShare is proud to announce the launch of LifeShare Biologics, a transformative new division committed to expanding the organization’s mission by delivering a robust line of cellular products to communities across Louisiana and beyond. This bold step positions LifeShare as the first blood center in their service area to strategically pursue a comprehensive biologics initiative, signaling a major milestone in its continued evolution to meet the future of medicine head-on.

Monica Kalvelage has been appointed to lead this exciting new venture as Chief Operating Officer of Biologics. Monica brings a deep well of knowledge, unmatched passion, and a visionary belief in the potential of cellular therapies to revolutionize healthcare. To support the success of LifeShare Biologics, several business units have been realigned to provide direct support and operational expertise, ensuring an agile and collaborative start for this groundbreaking division.

In tandem with this advancement, LifeShare remains steadfast in its commitment to its core operations. With the successful completion of major initiatives like Pelican Plasma and Fairfield Platelets, Geri Venable is being reengaged within blood services, now serving as Chief Operating Officer of Blood Services. Geri previously led LifeShare’s blood collections team with distinction and, most recently, played a pivotal role in the historic filing of a Biologics License Application (BLA) for both frequent and non-frequent plasma donors, a first for any U.S. blood center. This success was achieved through the relentless efforts of her team.

“We are incredibly proud of both Monica and Geri as they take on these vital leadership roles,” said Dr. Chad A. Douglas, President & CEO of LifeShare. “Their vision, experience, and unwavering commitment exemplify the spirit of LifeShare. These strategic moves not only strengthen our leadership team but also position us to better serve our donors and communities as healthcare continues to evolve.”

LifeShare remains dedicated to innovation, service, and saving lives. This new chapter underscores its mission to lead with purpose and pioneer new frontiers in transfusion medicine and beyond.
